Generating events

Event names are only generated for zone boundaries that do not have an event assigned to them. Zone boundaries that already have top and base events assigned will keep their original name.

With the Generate Events form, you can automatically generate event names in the Stratigraphic View, based on zone names. This can be useful when you have already defined the zones in your Stratigraphic View, but the events (in fact the zone boundary names) are not defined yet.

To generate events

  1. Select the stratigraphic model for which you have defined the zone names, but not the event names yet.
  2. Select the stratigraphic level from which the event names will be generated.
  3. Choose to generate the event name after the top or base of the zones; the event name will be <zone name_Top> or <zone name_Base>.
  4. Click OK to create the event names in the Stratigraphic View and close the form. Otherwise, click Apply to create the event names and keep the form open for further work.

Now that you have generated the event names in your Stratigraphic View, you can use the prepare > Wells > Markers from Stratigraphy form to create marker names in the Marker Sets folder in the JewelExplorer, which can then be used for picking in the Well view.
